TV Touch Up.

I painted the walls in our living room a white/gray color and my little tv cabinet was looking drab with little contrast, so this weekend I painted powder blue panels on the front doors and drawers.
I thought the gray/blue would tie in well with the accesories I have sitting on top.
Old books with pretty covers
and colored glass bottles.
I thought I had a picture of the whole cabinet, cause the drawers have the blue on them as well, but aparently not. Oh well you get the idea. ; )
Amanda, Thank you for consulting with me late friday night. : )

The wall color is Benjamin Moore's Going to the Chapel...Much Brighter and Lighter feeling than the previous green. I am very please with the hardware...the rod is from wally world and the rings are from Hobby Lobby. K...ttyl.

Doggy Dreamin

I have been sewing and painting at home the last four days and my sweet puppy buds have been hangin out with me. A little bored and completely uninterested in what I am doing but nonetheless, faithfully by my side. They stay in the same room with me so they can keep an eye on me just in case I descide to do something exciting! haha
Here are a couple of pictures of my companions...
(Both of these pics are HORRIBLE quality (cause I took em with my phone) but, I just had to share...)
...Saturday was HOT, so Heidi wanted to be inside..but she couldn't help day dreaming about how fun it would be to play in the sprinkler in our front yard.

And this morning it was POURING rain and nice and cool, so while I was painting the Living Room I left the front door open for a little ventilation. I put their bed in front of the door and Kody just enjoyed watching and listening to the rain.
haha... cute pups.

Clever Drape Idea

I might be behind the times on this cause it seems like everyone has already heard about this thrifty little idea...but maybe you haven't, so i will share.
Drapes made from Painters Drop Cloths!

They give a similar look to linen drapes but for a much better price tag...

These are the drapes that are being mimicked:

Pottery Barn's Peyton Linen Drapes

Layla Palmer at the lettered cottage blogged about this great idea as a wonderful substitution...

see how the fabric drop cloths have a great natural looking texture...

Here are a couple other peeps who have utilized the drop cloth as draperies... Homebody

and Judy at DIY...she fancied hers up a bit with some contrasting fabric at the bottom...

such a great idea...might have to make use of this one is my houseperhaps in the living room.

...but if I do I don't think I will use the clip on rings...I think I will sew hook on the back, every 4" and slip the hooks through eyelet rings...I think this will help the drapes lay better.

I wonder if the drop cloths could be dyed...hmmm. What do you think?

Blooms...

Bronze Babies

I am thinking about getting 2 sconces for either side of the mirror right inside my front door.
These two sconces have alot of similarities...one of their similarities is not price.
How do you feel about the fact that this little bronze fella from PB with it's
lovely linen shade is:
$79.00 + $20.00 for the shade + $9.57 for sales tax + $17.00 for shipping= $125.57 x two of them for a total of $251.14...

...And this similar little bronze mister with its slightly more tapered linen shade from my local Lowe's is:

$34.97 + $2.89 for sales tax= $37.86 x two of them for a total of $75.72

a difference of $175.42.

Do you suppose that Pottery Barn's Quality is so insanely superior that it is worth 175 bucks more????

Makin a Mess with Moss...

I made these preserved moss topiaries this weekend.

The Dining room needed a little greenery for summer....
Here is a view of my dining room "mantle" with my new moss ball friends...
They were fairly easy to make...just a bit messy. : )
