Lunch Break

I went home for lunch and my roses had just exploded! So I took a quick pic with the camera on my phone to show y'all...

Pretty Pink

One of my sweet clients has a rose garden and gave me these
little beauties when I was at her house a couple days ago.
They were just little buds then.
When I woke up this morning they were
bloomingly beautiful!I just sat there and smelled their amazingly fresh scent while I ate my cereal...just delightful.

Maybe I'll have a rose garden one day.

Headboard Hmmmmmm....

We have a very narrow room and I have been trying to decide what the best option for a headboard would be.
  • I thought about a DIM (Do It Myself) Upholstered Option in a fabric that coordinates/compliments my bed linens,
  • Then I pondered re purposing an old door turned on its side a painted a fun color,
  • Then I considered comissioning the hubby to build me a wall hung painted wood Option,
  • and then...I stumbled across this picture on www.sunset.com ....

And I am currently in love with it. : )

It would be sleek and slim and take up ZERO space and it would help our itty bitty room appear larger!

I found some mirror tiles with rounded edges at IKEA ( "Sorli" $5/for 4 tiles ).

Maybe this idea will stick. lol.

It's a bummer though because IKEA doesn't allow this particular item to be ordered online so I'll have to wait til the nesxt trip to Dallas. :(

Spring time

This weekend I was bitten by the spring time bug. It was such a gorgeous Saturday and I had to get outside. So I decided to do a little planting...
I have been dreaming about climbing vines around my front porch all winter and I've done my research. I had a list of pros and cons and have had it narrowed down to three selections for about two months now....
Option #1 English Ivy
Option #2 Wisteria
Option #3 Carolina Jasmine
And I chose..............

The JASMINE!!!

I love the bright cherry flowers and the fact that it is evergreen. I can't wait for the two little baby vines to get growin! I also filled two hanging baskets that my sweet mother-in-law left me.They look similar to this basket...

I filled the baskets with dusty miller (which happens to match the shade of green that my front door is painted), Potato Vine, and some bright red flowers that I believe are called celosia.

House Projects

TV Cabinet....
What was once Knotty Pine and Chewed up by small puppies is now deliciously creamy white with unique little square golden knobs.
Bathroom Walls, Cabinetry and Mirrors...
Peach Wainscoting and Mint Green Walls get a fresh coat of paint,
along with the cabinetry, door, and trim.
Benjamin Moore's Palladian blue on the Walls and Ceiling and Antique White on the Woodwork.

Since we share a bathroom and the one little mirror above the sink is all we have, I thought a scattering of vintage mirrors on the same wall would be functional as well as fun!

Economical Art... : )

I'm trying to be a bit more contemporary in the Master Bedroom for Lucas' sake I think. I wanted something kind of fun and bold to be above the headboard that is going to be made by my fabulous hubbie...

I got three wooden frames from my favorite flea market that had a musty/retro vibe and gave them a slick new look with some black paint... While at the flea market I saw some vintage silhouettes in ornate little frames that I just loved, but since I'm trying to be a bit mod in this room I got the idea to print out black clip art silhouettes onto white card stock. I think they turned out pretty cute....

LIGHT...

Our 1940's wee lil casa is dimly lit and I was about to go insane with the lack of vision while I chopped my veggies and washed my dishes. Thankfully I've got Lukie who with his new found electrical knowledge can create more LIGHT! so exciting. Now I've got my pendant chandelier from RESTORE over the kitchen table and a recessed light over my sink. Life is better with LIGHT!

Please Pardon the dishes in the sink...I guess I could have put them away before the picture, but at least they are clean dishes! : )

haha... I just saw that there are a pair of heels sitting on the shelf in the background. I have a habit of taking of my shoes as soon as I get off work and putting them in the highest spot wherever I am (so the pups won't chew them up!)
So Blessed and Thankful!!!
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with THANKFULNESS."
Col. 2:6-7

Pup Photo Shoot

When I take the dogs running with me, I take them one at a time. They are getting better on a leash but are still easily distracted, so one at a time is all these scrawny arms can handle.

After our run Wednesday evening, I was pooped and the pups were panting, so I figured we'd get some water and crash on the sofa. But, no...they wanted to play fetch. They are ridiculously attached to a little blue racket ball.

After fifteen minutes or so of chasing down the ball, Heidi and Kody were dead tired. I think they would literally kill themselves with exhaustion if I didn't stop throwing for them.

Well they came in and laid on the cool kitchen floor and panted with their tongues hanging out for the next ten minutes while I washed the dishes. They were cracking me up with their flopping tongues and pathetic faces so out came the camera.

Sorry you had to endure my pet lover pics. I never thought I'd be one of those people who takes pictures of there pets. One day I'll have a baby - a more camera worthy subject. But until then...I'll just enjoy my dogs. : )
